The John Clarke Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will host the first meeting of the new year on Thursday, September 13th at 11:00am in Social Circle. During this meeting members will recognize the adoption of the United States Constitution. Social Circle Mayor Hal Dally will be a guest and will present the chapter with a proclamation commemorating Constitution Week.
Constitution Week was officially enacted on August 2, 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower from a congressional resolution petitioned by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The observance of Constitution Week is September 17-23 to commemorate when the Constitution was approved by the American Congress of the Confederation on September 17, 1787.
