In celebration of World Children's Day and as part of the #voicesofyouth Illustration Challenge, I've painted this piece, to reimagine a better world for all children.
I envision a future where every child has access to children’s literature that reflects the diversity of our lives, challenges and dreams: A future where books are not only accessible to every child, but also encourage young readers to engage with our diverse world, through inclusive texts and illustrations and through impulses for independent thought processes. Furthermore it is crucial for children’s books to function as a platform for marginalised voices and support innovative and critical thinking in the young generation. I find it important to create children’s literature that inspires and encourages every child in their unique individuality, supports children in their endeavours and to develop freely, and that empowers each of its young readers.
